Atikokan, Ontario : Removing a Locomotive from the Bush, 1963.

This locomotive was built in 1913 by the Lima Locomotive Corporation, and is one of 116 of their locomotives known to have survived. Please see The Shay Locomotives website for more information on #2712.

Allen Dunsmore says: " (These photos show) a work crew salvaging the old Shevlin Clarke locomotive out of the bush, which I think are from the winter of 1963. "

The man at top in the red and black checked jacket is Bill Dunnett.
Immediately below him, in the tan coat and red hard hat is Jack Switzer.

After many weeks of painting and restoration, the locomotive is placed next to the Atikokan Museum.
